We work with most dental insurance plans to ensure you receive the full benefits available to you. If you are not sure whether your health plan covers the procedure you need, our staff would be happy to contact your provider to confirm your benefits. We also have payment plans available for certain procedures (for example, crowns, nightguards, and dentures), and introductory offers for new patients and patients without insurance.
Meet Dr. Alan Katende
Dr. Alan Katende was born in Ardsley, NY, and has lived in Missouri, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. He is proud to call Harker Heights his home.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. Dr. Katende received advanced training in general dentistry at Bronx Lebanon Hospital and completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery fellowship at Harlem Hospital, both in New York. To keep up with advancements in his field, Dr. Katende continues to take continuing education courses in implants, orthodontics, and oral surgery.
Dr. Katende’s philosophy and approach to dentistry, and family dentistry in particular, includes focusing on preventive dentistry. He believes that fluoride treatment combined with sealants — as well as dietary counseling at a young age — can prevent costly dental treatment down the road.
Dr. Katende loves playing sports and staying fit, and spending time with his family — his wife, Yasai, and their three boys. Dr. Katende is also passionate about music. He’s been playing piano and guitar since he was a child
Raina
Raina attended Temple College where she received her degree in dental hygiene. She joined Knights Family Dentistry in 2020. Before she became a hygienist, she proudly served in the military for four years.
Raina enjoys the field of dentistry because she finds it very rewarding to help patients gain confidence in their smiles. She likes connecting with each patient as an individual, educating them on the importance of their oral hygiene and how it relates to their overall health.
When she is not working Raina enjoys listening to podcasts, spending time with her adult children and loving her animals.
Maria
Maria did not grow up in Texas, but now proudly calls it home. She joined Knights Family Dentistry in 2018. She proudly served four years in the military before she decided she wanted to be in the dental field.
Maria became an assistant because she believes that a smile says a lot about an individual, and it is usually the first thing people notice. She wants her patients to achieve their personal goals in life and believes that having a healthy, beautiful smile can help.
During her time away from work, Maria and her husband love watching their boys in all their sporting activities.
Melissa
Melissa is usually one of the first people you see when you come into the office. She has over 30 years of experience in the dental field including assisting and front office, which allows her the ability to answer patients’ technical questions, as well as any financial or insurance related questions. She loves seeing the look on her patient’s face when they realize they can finally have the smile they have always dreamed of. Dentistry is her life passion!!
Away from work she enjoys spending time with family and loved ones, cooking, gardening, and being a “Gigi” to her granddaughter.
Allysa
Having worked in the dental field since 2017, Allysa chose the profession because she loves and enjoys being part of transforming people’s smiles. She also works with our patients to help minimize any fears they have about visiting the dentist.
She grew up in San Angelo Texas, and in her my free time she loves traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
Denise
Front Office Coordinator
Denise brings several years of experience in the dental field to our practice. She began her career as a dental assistant, where she gained extensive clinical knowledge and a deep understanding of patient care. This foundation allows her to provide exceptional service and support in her current role as Front Office Coordinator.
In her position, Denise is dedicated to ensuring each patient has a seamless experience—from scheduling and insurance coordination to the moment they complete their visit. Her professionalism, organization, and commitment to patient satisfaction make her a valued member of our team.
Outside the office, Denise keeps busy with her kids and all their activities.
Grace
Registered Dental Hygienist
Grace is a dedicated Registered Dental Hygienist with a genuine passion for helping patients feel confident about their smiles. With years of experience in the dental field, she combines her clinical expertise with a gentle touch and friendly demeanor, making even the most anxious patients feel at ease.
She takes the time to educate patients about their oral health and enjoys building lasting relationships through trust and personalized care. Grace’s goal is to ensure every visit is comfortable, informative, and leaves patients smiling a little brighter.
When she’s not in the office, Grace enjoys spending time with family and traveling.
Lariza
Dental Assistant
Lariza is a skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant who plays a vital role in ensuring our patients receive exceptional care. With years of experience in the dental field, she is knowledgeable in chairside procedures, patient comfort, and clinical support, making every appointment run smoothly.
Lariza’s friendly personality and attention to detail help patients feel relaxed and confident during their visits. She takes pride in supporting the dental team and contributing to a positive, welcoming environment for everyone who comes through our doors.
Outside of work, Lariza enjoys spending time with family, cooking, or exploring new hobbies.
