Knights Family Dentistry delivers efficient care while working to foster meaningful relationships with our patients of all ages.
We provide total dental care including, tooth-colored crowns, bridges, and fillings, gum disease treatment, and extractions, among other treatments. We also pride ourselves in offering efficient emergency treatment and same-day appointments.
We use state-of-the-art equipment to offer the latest in dental technology and treatments, such as digital X-rays, ultrasonic scalers for teeth cleaning, ClearCorrect for orthodontic treatment without braces, and an intraoral camera (which we use to give you a closer look at your dental health condition).
We accept all PPO insurance plans as well as DentaQuest, MCNA, and CHIP. If you are not sure whether your health plan covers the procedure you need, our staff would be happy to contact your provider to confirm your benefits. We also have payment plans available for certain procedures (for example, crowns, nightguards, and dentures), and introductory offers for new patients and patients without insurance.
Meet Dr. Alan Katende
Dr. Alan Katende was born in Ardsley, NY, and has lived in Missouri, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. He is proud to call Harker Heights his home.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. Dr. Katende received advanced training in general dentistry at Bronx Lebanon Hospital and completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery fellowship at Harlem Hospital, both in New York. To keep up with advancements in his field, Dr. Katende continues to take continuing education courses in implants, orthodontics, and oral surgery.
Dr. Katende’s philosophy and approach to dentistry, and family dentistry in particular, includes focusing on preventive dentistry. He believes that fluoride treatment combined with sealants — as well as dietary counseling at a young age — can prevent costly dental treatment down the road.
Dr. Katende loves playing sports and staying fit, and spending time with his family — his wife, Yasai, and their three boys. Dr. Katende is also passionate about music. He’s been playing piano and guitar since he was a child
Meet Dr. Mohammed Huq
Dr. Huq attended Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry graduating in 2002. He has two decades of dentistry experience with expertise in all areas of practice. He has a passion for creating new smiles and straightening teeth with braces or Invisalign. Dr. Huq is an active member of the American Orthodontic Society as well as the Academy of GP Orthodontics.
In his free time, he loves to spend time with his family, watching and playing basketball, and staying up to date reading.
Kelly
Kelly has been in the dental field for 7 years and has been with Knights Family Dentistry since 2021. She is a highly trained dental assistant and takes patients’ dental health very seriously. All her patients appreciate her gentle and compassionate care. She proudly served in the military for 6 years before becoming a dental assistant.
When she is not at work, she enjoys camping with her family and riding motorcycles with her husband.
Raina
Raina attended Temple College where she received her degree in dental hygiene. She joined Knights Family Dentistry in 2020. Before she became a hygienist, she proudly served in the military for four years.
Raina enjoys the field of dentistry because she finds it very rewarding to help patients gain confidence in their smiles. She likes connecting with each patient as an individual, educating them on the importance of their oral hygiene and how it relates to their overall health.
When she is not working Raina enjoys listening to podcasts, spending time with her adult children and loving her animals.
Maria
Maria did not grow up in Texas, but now proudly calls it home. She joined Knights Family Dentistry in 2018. She proudly served four years in the military before she decided she wanted to be in the dental field.
Maria became an assistant because she believes that a smile says a lot about an individual, and it is usually the first thing people notice. She wants her patients to achieve their personal goals in life and believes that having a healthy, beautiful smile can help.
During her time away from work, Maria and her husband love watching their boys in all their sporting activities.
Kadijah
Born and raised in Killeen, TX; Kadijah joined Knights Family Dentistry in 2020. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2016 before obtaining her dental hygiene degree from Temple College in 2020. Kadijah prioritizes each patient in her chair to make certain that they feel comfortable, important, and receive exceptional quality care. She enjoys educating her patients, optimizing their oral health, and is also certified in laser therapy. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, and watching movies.
Melissa
Melissa is usually one of the first people you see when you come into the office. She has over 30 years of experience in the dental field including assisting and front office, which allows her the ability to answer patients’ technical questions, as well as any financial or insurance related questions. She loves seeing the look on her patient’s face when they realize they can finally have the smile they have always dreamed of. Dentistry is her life passion!!
Away from work she enjoys spending time with family and loved ones, cooking, gardening, and being a “Gigi” to her granddaughter.
Elizabeth - Administrative Assistant
Elizabeth is our Administrative Assistant. She has been with us for 2 years and has been a part of the dental world for 5 years. Her favorite part of her job is greeting everyone with a smile. She is the reason the office is always so festive because she loves to decorate for every holiday and season.
She was born and raised in El Paso, TX, and always knew she was going to be a Texas girl. Her second home is Florida where she gets to spend time with her grandparents and the rest for her family. She is continuing her education in the fall of 2023 for cosmetology and hopes to start her own business in the future. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, cooking, and writing.
Allysa
Having worked in the dental field since 2017, Allysa chose the profession because she loves and enjoys being part of transforming people’s smiles. She also works with our patients to help minimize any fears they have about visiting the dentist.
She grew up in San Angelo Texas, and in her my free time she loves traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
